Child Custody Evaluations

Pending court Order, I complete child custody evaluations to assist the court in making decisions about legal and physical custody, and visitation and parenting plans for children and families. My evaluations focus on the child’s psychosocial and developmental needs, parenting skills and abilities, and relationships between the parties and the child(ren) with recommendations that reflect the best psychological interests of the child(ren). Evaluations are conducted in a fair, objective, and impartial manner and in compliance with guidelines set forth by the American Psychological Association and the Association of Family Conciliation Courts. I have provided expert testimony in New Castle County, Delaware, Cecil County, Maryland, and Chester County, Pennsylvania.

Personal Injury Evaluations

I use a comprehensive assessment approach to ascertain whether an individual has been psychologically harmed by a catastrophic traumatic event and, if so, to what extent. A comprehensive assessment may include a structured clinical interview, review of collateral documents, psychological testing, and/or interviews with collateral sources. By using a structured assessment methodology, I accurately determine the degrees to which, and the ways in which, an individual differs from pre-traumatic event experiences. An evaluation report and treatment recommendations will be provided to the retaining attorney if requested.

I am available to offer objective and expert psycho-legal consultation and opine on the merits of psychological IMEs/reports written by other mental health providers.

Mental Health Evaluations

Comprehensive mental health evaluations are structured to identify psychosocial barriers that may hinder an individual's success in social, occupational, and/or educational settings. Based on criteria set forth in the DSM-5, I am qualified to assess child and adult symptoms associated with psychopathology, mood disorders, anxiety-related disorders, trauma, behavioral disorders, and personality disorders.

Treatment recommendations can be provided to the Courts, legal representatives, or clients directly (depending on the Order or specific situation). Therapeutic treatment options can be explored if and when requested.

Risk of Violence / Threat Assessments

Threats to harm self and others must be taken seriously in order to protect the health and safety of all community members and employees in the workforce. I use a structured professional judgment (SPJ) approach when conducting threat assessments. SPJs are evidence-based, and utilize standardized areas of inquiry that have been scientifically validated to identify risk factors (and protective factors) associated with specific acts of violence. As part of the written report, I will opine on treatment and intervention recommendations to mitigate risk. I conduct risk assessments for children, adolescents, and adults.

Expert Consultation

I provide expert consultation on many psychosocial matters as they apply to evaluation critiques, best practices in evidence-based psychological treatments, behavioral interventions, and educational decision-making.

I also consult with organizations and firms who seek to apply evidence-based counseling techniques within their organizational structure to improve relations with clients.

Expert Witness

I am available to provide expert testimony at the request of the court and/or legal representation within my area of expertise. This may include oral and/or written testimony of record reviews and other psycho-legal matters.

Psycho-educational Evaluations

As a certified school psychologist in PA, I conduct comprehensive psycho-educational evaluations and provide detailed reports for Special Education (PA Code Ch 14), 504 Plan (PA Code Ch. 15), and Special Education for Gifted Students (PA Code Ch. 16) eligibility.
